Board Repair
Enterprise equipment often includes highly complex, multi-layer, and intelligent motherboards and PCBAs in order to process and connect with the user’s environment. This equipment is ordered to tolerate constant operating fluctuations while installed. But eventually a component will break.
At Sprague Europe, we are specialized in the reverse engineering of the test process to identify the root cause of board problems, even in the absence of schematics or a bill of materials (BOM). Once the root cause has been identified, our purchase department is dedicated to source the End of Life (EOL) components.
Using dedicated tools, techniques and strict quality controller processes, our IPC-certified team members perform component-level repairs on the boards.
Micro mechanical Repair
Hardware that includes micro mechanical and micro electromechanical components and sub assemblies require a high level of reverse product engineering in order to be recovered to meet the original specification and characteristics.
From origin our core-business is the repair of tape drives. Repairing the tape read/write heads has always been the biggest challenge and focus. With every generation, these sub assemblies become more precise, smaller, and more sensitive. Forcing us to physically align in micron precision and solder with wires that less than a quarter thickness of a hair.
As such sub assemblies are often not available post-manufacturing. Therefor we are dedicated to reverse engineer the manufacturing processes and materials into the deepest levels. This approach provides valuable insights, innovative techniques, and new processes that can be applicable for new markets.
Tape drives
From origin our core business is the repair of tape drives. Where we started in 1999 with the repair of DLT tape drives for third party maintenance companies, it has succeeded in repairing up to the LTO-9 generation for OEMs worldwide.
Leveraging on the micro mechanical expertise we are positioning ourselves as a truly independent service provider for out of warranty products for OEM and Third-Party maintenance contractors worldwide. Tape libraries
When storing data on tapes it is often physically managed by robotic assemblies within an enclosure. The combination of force, constantly standing online, external factors, and light weight design makes it that it wears and break down.
Our team leverages both on the micro mechanical skills and board repair skill in order to repair these tape libraries and robotics.

Storage controllers
When data is not stored on tapes it is stored on Hard Disc Drives (HDD) or Solid-State Drives (SSD). In the enterprise environment this is scaled and requires control over the individual storage locations.
Our team is leveraging the board repair skills and the internal resources for reverse engineering the processes, to provide repair services.
All data carrying devices within our facility are processed in the secured area. In addition to that we provides custom services regarding data wiping and recertification of HDD, SSD and even tapes.
